Moonglow is proud to partner with the Pink Fund for another year during the month of October for breast cancer awareness month. Moonglow has felt inspired by the amazing work the Pink Fund is doing for breast cancer patients and their families during an already very difficult time.
The Pink Fund provides 90-day non-medical cost-of-living expenses on behalf of breast cancer patients in active treatment, so they can focus on healing, raising their families, and returning to the workplace. When these patients are already fighting for their lives they often lose livelihoods. The Pink Fund gives these patients the temporary relief needed to help focus on their treatment and healing.
In 2016, Financial Toxicity was designated as a side effect of cancer treatment by the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ACS, 2020). Financial toxicity can have a severe impact on these patients and their healing process. Specifically, financial toxicity can lead to a greater mortality risk, impaired quality of life, and overall poorer well being.
Recently, the Pink Fund shared a powerful campaign titled, Eyes Up Here. The Pink Fund is directing our eyes to the unseen effects of breast cancer induced from financial toxicity. Many causes donate towards research, but very few are able to give this support to these patients and their families when they need it most. This empowering campaign features real stories, real women, and their real financial hardships. We will be featuring these direct quotes to bring light to all the financial struggles these patients have to endure and all the great work the Pink Fund is doing to support the patients fighting breast cancer.
